Raising Awareness

My son's daycare had a Fall Festival this week. I decided to pay for a vendor table in order to raise awareness about the severity of food allergies. I think the school was happy since they had been having problems with some parents not following the rule of no outside food allowed. I gave away some chocolate chip cookies and brownies that I make without milk, eggs or nuts. I had my son's Epi-Pen on display along with a trainer for peple to try. I had handouts that FAAN was able to ship to me in time for the Festival including some to sign up for the Food Allergy Walk November 13th. I handed out some cards that have our blog spot to people who knew someone with a food allergy. I was really surprised how many people actually knew someone with a severe food allergy.

  1. I came across the EAT Fort Worth blog, and was curious if it was still active? I am working on behalf of the Food Allergy Initiative (FAI), and am encouraging people to write letters to Rep. Granger to insure continued funding for food allergy research. I don't mind writing up a draft for you, or anyone else who understands the importance of research in this field. Please email me at megan@pearsonpublicaffairs.com if you are interested. I look forward to hearing from you, and good luck with your efforts!
